Bhutan Grand Cultural Journey

Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

  • Arrive at Paro Airport.
  • Drive to Thimphu (~1 hr).
  • Visit Memorial Chorten and Tashichho Dzong.
  • Evening stroll in Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing

  • Visit Buddha Dordenma, Folk Heritage Museum, National Institute for Zorig Chusum, and Motithang Takin Preserve.
  • Explore local markets.

Overnight: Thimphu

Day 3: Thimphu → Punakha (via Dochula Pass)

  • Drive to Punakha (~3 hrs) via Dochula Pass with panoramic Himalayan views.
  • Visit Punakha Dzong.

Day 4: Punakha & Wangdue Phodrang

  • Visit Chimi Lhakhang (fertility temple).
  • Walk across Punakha Suspension Bridge.
  • Explore Wangdue Phodrang villages.

Day 5: Punakha → Gangtey / Phobjikha Valley

  • Drive to the scenic Phobjikha Valley (~3 hrs).
  • Visit Gangtey Monastery and take a nature walk in the valley.

Overnight: Gangtey / Phobjikha

Day 6: Phobjikha → Trongsa → Bumthang

  • Travel east via Trongsa Dzong (~6–7 hrs drive).
  • Arrive in Bumthang, spiritual heartland of Bhutan.

Overnight: Bumthang

Day 7: Bumthang Cultural Exploration

  • Visit Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang, and local villages.
  • Experience traditional arts and crafts.

Day 8: Bumthang → Mongar

  • Scenic drive east through forests and mountain villages (~7 hrs).
  • Stop at viewpoints and small villages en route.

Overnight: Mongar

Day 9: Mongar → Trashigang → Trashi Yangtse

  • Visit Mongar Dzong in the morning.
  • Continue to Trashigang, explore Trashigang Dzong.
  • Optional excursion to Chorten Kora in Trashi Yangtse.

Day 10: Trashigang – Eastern Bhutan Exploration

  • Explore eastern Bhutanese culture, traditional villages, and local crafts.
  • Scenic drives through the region.

Overnight: Trashigang

Day 11: Trashigang → Paro (Internal Flight)

  • Return to Paro (Domestic flight).
  • Relax in Paro in the evening.

Day 12: Tiger’s Nest Hike

  • Morning hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery).
  • Overnight in Paro.

Day 13: Departure from Paro

  • Transfer to Paro Airport for onward flight.
